First off, I have never made a blog and English is not my native tongue, so go easy on the slagging.
We felt that there was a need to create a platform for communication between the member of the Graphic Studio, a place for news, suggestions and were we will post a short summary of the members meetings.
I am sure this will be very amateur to begin with but we will learn.
There was a members-meeting yesterday in the Studio yesterday:
It started with a demonstration on the use and maintenance of the mask, the different types and the various filters that are to be had for it. It came as a surprise to most of us that need to have a separate filter for dust (ie.resin) that can be attached to the existing one by means of a retainer. (take that out of you mouth, its not that kind of a retainer!)
A price list for everything is available from the studio and we can order our masks from there.
As far as I know, same procedure as inks and such.
Thanks to Jackie for organizing this!
We also are now going ahead with the life drawing session
The first one will be on Saturday the 25th of September, in the Graphic Studio from 11-1.
If you are interested give your name and 6€ to Osgar.
Everybody is bringing their own material but rumour has it that there are easels.
We also had a visit from Leslie MacWeeney. But this is all I have time for today.
That is great Elke. Artists who were not at the meeting on Wednesday may like to know there is now an address or Contact Book in the studio, where members can write in their contact details.
The idea is to facilitate communication between members.
Hi all following on from a members meeting a while ago regarding non toxic clean up materials i got in touch with Belfast Print Workshop. I gave a workshop there a while and used a product that worked really well for cleaning up inks/knives etc.
Hi folks, I am sorry to say that there will be no lifedrawing. It is now tuesday and I only have two names and no money has been handed in to Osgar, and I dont think I can risk booking a model. Ah well, At least we tried. Elke
At yesterday's meeting the members put forward the following motions for the forthcoming agm of the studio: 1. We the members feel that the making of fine art prints is and must remain the core activity and focus of the Graphic Studio, and that the values of professionalism should be a priority. We call on the Board to ensure that policy decisions are centered on these principles and that studio resources are allocated according to these priorities. 2. Associate Members A scheme of Associate Membership of the Graphic Studio should be put in place before the year ends. We call on the Board to ensure that Associate Members are valued, welcome and included by the Studio.
Hello everyone, I'm not going ahead organising the trip to Leuvan, belgium. It seems there has been a very poor response to the idea of a cultural trip. Perhaps it's the recession. maybe another time....Geraldine
